    Notes
    • Marriage date is estimated base on Barbary Keener still being called Barbary Souder (first marriage) in her father's will made on 9 April 1784.

Possibly had another daughter born before 1790. The 1790 Federal Census shows Henry Masters and family living in Washington County, Pennsylvania. Since Washington County was the parent of Greene County (erected 9 Feb 1796), this entry "may" imply that Henry Masters was already living in what would become Greene County by this time. Census lists 1 free white male 16 and up, 1 free white male under 16 and 2 free white females (Barbary Keener Souders Masters + possibly one unknown daughter).

1800 Federal Census shows Henry Masters and family living in Greene Township, Greene, PA. Since census is in alphabetical order, it is impossible to determine who his neighbors were, but the family may have been living next to her brother, Boston Keener, by this time. Census shows 2 free white males under 10, 1 free while male 26-44, 1 free white female under 10, and 1 free white female 26-44.

1810 Federal Census shows Henry Masters and family living in Green Twp, Greene, PA. Census in alphabetical order, so again do not know their neighbors. This census shows 2 free white males 10-15, 1 free white male 45 and over, 1 free white female 45 and over, and 1 free white female under 10 (Phoebe would have been 17, may simply be mark in wrong column).

1820 Federal Census, pg. 339 shows Henry Masters and family living in Greene Twp, Greene County, PA, living next door to wife Barbary's brother, "Boston Caner" (Sebastian "Boston" Keener), and two doors from son Joseph Masters and his young family. This census shows 2 free white males under 10 yrs of age (sons Solomon and grandson Henry?), 1 free white male 26-45 (son Joseph age 30?), 1 free white male of 45 and up (Henry Masters?), 1 free white male of 16-26 (daughter-in-law July/Ula, wife of son Joseph?), 1 free white female of 45 and up (Barbary Masters?).

The fact that Henry Masters and son Joseph Masters are living next door to Boston Keener in 1820, coupled w/ the fact that Barbary Masters and her grandchildren by son Joseph Masters are all buried in Keener Cemetery on the Boston Keener farm, all combine to indicate that Barbary Keener, sister of Boston, was the wife of Henry Masters.

    • Existence of unknown daughter born between 1784-1790 is implied by the 1790 census (2 free white females in household). [2]
