82 2017: According to Dave, who is an ancestor of Anna O'Donnell : His Aunt Mary who passed away a year ago, left some notes on Neal. It is very sketchy. Neal died at a young age from TB or a blood clot. Neal was child of second marriage of either his mom or his dad. Neal had a step sister Sophia (possibly Murphy, O'Donnell, or McBride??) who married someone named Simon. He also had another step sister Hanorah. Bella (Belle) McBride had a brother Charley McBride who lived in Wilkes Barre PA.  O'DONNELL, Neal (I422)

83 23 June 2016: I have been trying to figure this guy out for awhile now. I wonder if he is somehow related to David Barton, born South Hadley, Hampshire, MA 13 Aug 1763 who died 1849 in Marshall, Oneida, NY and was married to Lydia Fuller. His father was David Barton born 1739. This David's parents were Elisha (Eliza) Barton and Betty Waite. I have a Great Uncle Waite Foot, and I know that name didn't just fall out of the sky! So this is one theory.

Another theory is he is from the family of Simeon Barton who married Rebecca Bartlett. They were from Granby, Hampshire, MA. His father is Ezekiel and his father is Elijah Barton. I have a note that he had a brother Waite who died age 10. He has a sone listed as James Harvey born 3 Aug 1810. Another son of his, Hiram Albert Barton (note similarity to my Harvey Barton's son's name) who married an Almira Bassett. My Harvey Barton married Eliza Bassett. This seems to fit better than the rest, but my Harvey Barton was born in New York.

For some reason in my notes, I wrote down Gershom Barton born Sutton, MA 1808, son of Elisha, son of Elija, head of family in Paris, Oneida, NY. So maybe this is linking the Massachusetts Bartons to New York, but how does this fit with my guy? I also note web site edwardbarton.org.

Another note says David Barton Sr. of Granby, MA, Revolutionary war officer. Son David was one of the first settlers of Marshall, ONeida County, New York.
BARTON, James Harvey (I1735)

84 24 Sep 2016: I have had to edit my entry for Richard Smith, due to information I found on Wikitree.com, a very nice job done by profile managers Michelle Brooks and Mitchell Watson: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Smith-40

"New England Historical and Genealogical Register Vol 158 page 38 says this Richard and Rebecca may have also had children Anne Smith bp 24 Feb 1621; and Rebecca bp 11 Dec 1630 that probably died young as there is no record of them in New England.

Disputed Origins:
The Doubtful English Ancestry of Richard Smith of Wethersfield states with a careful analysis that his parents were unknown. Please see New England Historical and Genealogical Register Vol 143 page 240."

My Note: I had parents listed for Richard Smith, but per wikitree findings will remove from tree until better evidence can be found of Richard's parentage. I was using Cooley-Hall genealogy book for reference, which stated this family came from Stratford-on-Avon, which evidently is not the case.

Continuing with wikitree:
"Who was Richard Smith that died c1644?
Born abt 1583.[1][2]
Born abt. 1589[3]

... Richard Smith, b. say 1583 [footnote: Aged "about 84 years" on 2 February 1666/7 ("Medical Records of John Winthrop," Manuscript, 701, ... cited by Harris, "Doubtful English Ancestry of Richard Smith", Register 143:243)], living Wethersfield in 1669 [footnote: See Jacobus, "Richard Smith of Wethersfield", The American Genealogist 25:126, for the 1669 reference to him "come 80 years."].[2]

Harris, in the Register article cited, indicates that the 1669 entry actually reads 'above 80 y', and uses a birth year of about 1583, based on the 1666/7 reference giving his age as 84.[2]

Rebecca Buswell, christening 23 Apr 1595, Husbands Bosworth, Leicestershire, England.[2]
Family

In 1949 Donald Lines Jacobus identified the wife of Richard Smith of Wethersfield, Connecticut as Rebecca Buswell (TAG 25:126-139). Roderick Bissell Jones, "The English Ancestry of Richard Smith of Wethersfield," published in NEHGR 128:136-139, identified Richard Smith as the man baptized 16 November 1585 at Stratford-on-Avon, co. Warwick, and traced family relationships for that man. Later Dr. Gale Ion Harris cast doubt on this identification in "The Doubtful English Ancestry of Richard Smith of Wethersfield, Connecticut," NEHGR 143:240-246. Thompson's research has confirmed that Richard Smith of Wethersfield was married and had children baptized not at Stratford-on-Avon, but in Husbands Bosworth, co. Leicester, where his wife's family lived. Richard Smith's ancestry remains to be established.[4]

Richard married Rebecca Buswell,[5] daughter of Roger Buswell and Margaret Unknown (Buswell), on 13 Feb 1614/15 in Leicester, Eng.[6][7] (Rebecca Buswell was born in 1593 in Leicester, Eng.[8][9] and died about 1667 in Wethersfield, Hartford Co., CT.[10])

Marriage 13 Feb 1615/16, Husbands Bosworth, Leicestershire, England to Rebecca Buswell.

In the same book, there is on page 57, the baptism of "Richardus filius Johannis Smith" on 16 November 1595. I wonder if either of these are this Richard that married Rebecca Buswell.

SMITH, Richard (I2718)

85 27 Dec 2016: I decided to look into Henry a little further. I see on Ancestry.com, that a lot of people have his parentage listed, but no real sources linking them, and the dates don't add up. So, today I decided to look into him a little bit. I have Henry's birthplace as New Jersey, unfortunately not sourced very well...just have that as coming from fellow genealogist and relative, the late Sam Jones. But it did give me a place to start.

I see on wikitree.com: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Masters-1055 that there is a Joseph Masters b. 1771 in Cumberland County, New Jersey, USA of unknown parents. His son Arariah Masters was born in 1796 in Morris Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania. The same county that Henry lived in...interesting!

Wikitree goes on to say about Joseph:
"Possible son of James Masters (c1745-1800 NJ); grandson of Richard Masters (c1715-1761); G-grandson of James (La Maistre) Masters o born in Ireland. These lines are on an unsupported Rootsweb page. I have also seen his death date as 5 JUL 1863 on Rootsweb."

Last night I saw a type of map plotting migration of several Masters family lines...from what I know of Henry, his line corresponds the most closely with Richard Masters and Isabella Campbell. Note that there is Ana Campbell of this same area is also a direct descendant of mine.

Also from Ancestry, I see Henry listed as William Masters, born in 1751 in Frederick Maryland, died in Whitely, Greene County, Pennsylvania in 1835. No sources.

Several trees on Ancestry show a marriage to Barbara Berger (1753-1848) in North Carolina and other connections to North Carolina. This doesn't "feel" right to me, and also, no sources listed.

I see someone on Ancestry listed Henry's birthplace as Monmouth, New Jersey. Will look into that next.

95 6/19/16: Originally, I had the father and mother of Ulrich, Adam and Hans as Peter Keener and Catherine Ulrich. Peter's parents were listed as Caspar Keener and Maria Agneti Bender Keener. There was no source of this information, other than some folks on Ancestry had this on their tree. I believe this was due to the fact that Peter lived in Bethel, Lancaster, Pennsylvania and was assumed to be the father of Urich, Adam and Hans. In his will, he names a son, Peter, as a beneficiary and no mention of Urich, Adam or Hans. Possibly Peter is related to Ulrich, Adam and Hans, but no proof he is their father, so have deleted him from my tree until more evidence can be found.  Keener, Ulrich "William" (I5764)
